Westin Punta Cana Resort Review

Highly Recommended! Stayed one night

I’m kind of bias, Westins are my favorite hotel property besides Park Hyatts. After choosing to move from my Airbnb to a hotel for a life with AC, I looked up my options on Marriott, SPG, and Hyatt hotels in Punta Cana and found that my only options were a Four Points Sheraton or Westin. I love Westin, so it was the easy choice. I used a points + cash combo (5,000 SPG points + $75) to book the room. I have Platinum Preferred status with SPG and was given an upgrade to a larger room closer to the beach and pool on the second floor.

Accommodations:

I LOVED my room.  It was spacious, clean, and just everything I want in a room, except no jacuzzi, haha. My balcony and view were amazing. And there was AC! The main reason why I switched my accommodations, lol.

Food:

  • Brazza Grill – I ordered the Peruvian ceviche which was really good and seafood chaufa…which was too salty. The location is right off the beach next to the pool. Really stunning views, but I decided to take it to go and eat in my room because I wanted AC after sitting out in the sun all day, haha.

  • Breakfast buffet – So with my status, I had the choice of continental breakfast or 500 SPG points. I opted for the breakfast, surprised it didn’t just come with my status to begin with. I paid the $9 upgrade so I could get the buffet..again which should have been included, but I’m a spoiled brat when I’m in hotels, lol. Buffet was adequate with everything that is typically in a breakfast buffet. Made to order omelette station, hot breakfast foods, salad/veggie bar, breads, desserts, cereals, etc. I sat outside and had a nice view of the pool area. Not too shabby!

Surrounding Area:

  • The Westin is right on Playa Blanco. My favorite beach in Punta Cana with white sands and super blue water. It had a really cute gazebo and nice chairs to sit on along the beach.

  • The pool area was picturesque, but I opted for the hammocks between the pool and beach where I laid for a while.

  • Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park – included when you are a guest of Westin. I chose to chill at the beach instead of going here, but this was highly recommended by the staff at the hotel and upon reading reviews online, will definitely make a visit when I return to Punta Cana.

Transportation:

  • The Westin has a shuttle service that takes you to various restaurants and points of interest around the area including the Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park. Like I said, I was a beach bum during my stay there, so did not actually use this service, however it seems convenient for guests to explore the area.

  • Taxis to the airport are a whopping $20 USD!  From the Westin, it is less than 10 minutes away so I was able to negotiate for $15…still not great, but better than $20. Ugh…they really like to take advantage of tourists in Punta Cana.

Overall, LOVED my stay at this Westin. Met and exceeded my expectations, per usual. Definitely recommend for those that want to stay within the Playa Blanco area!
