Anniversary staycation!

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share wWhen flights are pricey and you are itching to be out of the house, staycations are a great option to be a tourist in your own city!

This is what me and my boyfriend, Derick did to celebrate our 5 year anniversary which is always during the July 4th holiday weekend. We thought about doing a quick weekend trip somewhere in the U.S., however flights were way too high for our liking so we decided to celebrate our anniversary in Chicago.

I booked us a room for two nights at the Thompson Hotel (it is a Hyatt property and I was able to use my points..woohoo!) and we got upgraded to a corner room!

All weekend we were eating fantastically..which is typically the primary objective of all our trips.

Friday night, we met my siblings for happy hour at Prime & Provisions and had $1 oysters and cocktails, then had a 17-course omakase at Sushi Suite 202 which is in a hotel room at Hotel Lincoln.ith the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

On Saturday, we had breakfast across the street of our hotel - The Original Pancake House, your typical breakfast diner food. Then saw Six, the musical - which was AMAZING! We walked from the theatre back to the Gold Coast, after a failed attempt of going to Cindy's Rooftop (which is a good 2 miles) and ate a large snack at Hugo's Frog Bar right by the hotel. We then had our 5 year anniversary dinner at Boka (where we have celebrated the last 4 years)!

Sunday we got a late checkout and shopped around Gold Coast and picked up Halal Guys and ate it on the patio outside of our hotel. We then met up our friends at the Drake Hotel in Oakbrook to celebrate the 4th of July.

So despite us not leaving the state, we were able to have an amazing staycation in the comfort of our own backyard. We cut down on travel costs and were able to spend more lavishly on what we wanted to do which was eat!

I encourage you to do a staycation if you have not already. And if you need help planning, feel free to reach out!
